{"id":429,"date":"2015-01-14T03:33:15","date_gmt":"2015-01-14T03:33:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.acitytraced.net\/?p=429"},"modified":"2015-01-14T21:09:18","modified_gmt":"2015-01-14T21:09:18","slug":"a-new-years-tour-of-a-changing-queens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.acitytraced.net\/?p=429","title":{"rendered":"A New Year&#8217;s Tour of a Changing Queens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Happy 2015!<\/p>\n<p>Last Sunday, Will, Dan and Prudence documented a walking tour given by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.geognyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jack Eichenbaum<\/a> in Willets Point, Queens. The weather was cold, but the sun was out and it was interesting to hear the story of Queens&#8217; agragian past as we strolled through the manicured Flushing Meadows Park and potholed and flooded concrete of Willets Point Avenue. The tour was part of the opening day of the Queens Museum&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.queensmuseum.org\/exhibitions\/2015\/01\/05\/reviewing-renewal\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Reviewing Renewal<\/a>, a series of events, organized by <a href=\"http:\/\/596acres.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">596 Acres<\/a>, that examines the impact of past and current Urban Renewal plans on New York City.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acitytraced.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/rr.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-437\" src=\"http:\/\/www.acitytraced.net\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/rr.jpg\" alt=\"rr\" width=\"650\" height=\"470\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A more robust description of the tour can be found in &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/ny.curbed.com\/archives\/2015\/01\/12\/a_look_at_willets_point_before_demolition_redevelopment.php\" target=\"_blank\">A Look At Willets Point Before Demolition &amp; Redevelopment<\/a>,&#8221; a report by Curbed reporter Evan Bindelglass. Our Co-Producer, Claire, was very helpful with the transferring process.
